Our Firearms are sold in a pistol configuration, meaning they are shipped with an end cap, not a shoulder stock. Without the proper licensing from the BATF, converting your weapon into a Short barreled rifle (SBR) is illegal. If you would like an SBR, there are actions you must take.
First- Purchase one of our Brethren Arms pistols. Since it is not in an SBR configuration, you will be able to attain the weapon as you would a normal pistol, by completing a 4473 from the local Licensed dealer that your weapon is shipped to or purchased from.
Second- Complete and submit an BATF form 1;Application to Make and Register a Firearm. This form allows you to “manufacture” your own NFA weapon, meaning you can attach a shoulder stock. You will have to pay a $200 dollar tax stamp, and depending on your method of filing, submit fingerprint cards, a passport photo, and have the application signed by a Chief Law Enforcement Officer or a delegate there of. This process can take several weeks, but in the mean time, you can enjoy your Brethren Armament firearm in its pistol configuration until your application is approved.
Here is a link to the BATF website on the BATF form 1.
Please contact your local BATF branch office to insure that SBRs are legal in your state, and to answer any other questions you may have.
Third- contact us when your application has been approved by the BATF. We will do an exchange of the endcap for the stock of your choosing. Make sure that you keep a copy of your approved application with the firearm at all times.
